The Drug Wholesale Distributor Advisory Council is comprised of 11 members representing various aspects of the industry. See 499.01211, F.S., for the specific qualifications to serve on the council. The Council’s role is to review Chapter 499, Part I, and the rules, provide input to the department regarding all proposed rules, make recommendations to the department to improve the protection of the prescription drugs and public health, make recommendations to improve coordination with other states’ regulatory agencies and the federal government concerning the wholesale distribution of drugs, and make recommendations to minimize the impact of regulation of the wholesale distribution industry while ensuring protection of the public health.
