January 27, 2012 Dear Friends, This week, I had the privilege to travel to Gainesville to personally deliver licenses to new licensees at Girlz Beauty Salon and Tijuana Flats (pictures below). I also heard directly from them on our performance in the application and licensing process. Not only was I able to gather direct feedback, I got to visit their businesses and see what they are doing on a day to day basis. I was also privileged to participate in an event hosted by Buchholz High School’s Academy of Entrepreneurship. Governor Scott’s mission is to create jobs throughout Florida, and Buchholz’s entrepreneurship program promotes the same message – give students the tools they need to potentially open businesses in this great state of ours. I was also honored to present the Academy of Entrepreneurship with a check for $1,000 to support the school’s program (picture below). The check came from a national award the Department won for the efficiency of our plan review process for new hotels and restaurants. It was such a pleasure spending time with our licensees and getting to know future business owners. Thank you for allowing us to continue serving you!
Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
