It is no secret that I enjoy meeting, interacting with and gathering feedback from our licensees at many of the stops I make throughout the state. Our licensees are vital to the state and its economy, and I understand that the Department plays an essential role in the partnerships we have with our customers.

As part of our responsibility to be partners with our licensees, I feel it is also important to assist them with professional development relevant to their profession. For that reason, today we hosted more than 150 real estate and appraiser licensees at the 2012 Real Estate Financial Crimes Conference at the FAMU Law School in Orlando. The conference, which was a great professional development opportunity for these professionals, highlighted the importance of ensuring the integrity of real estate transactions – something that is also very important and relevant to Florida’s consumers.

The conference included keynote speakers from the U.S. Attorney’s office, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Carlton Fields, P.A. These keynote speakers not only provided information on the topic of financial crimes in real estate transactions, they also provided case studies to articulate real-world examples to the attendees.

Today’s conference was crucial to our real estate and appraiser licensees, consumers and ultimately Florida’s economy. I am glad that we had such a large audience, and know the attendees left with valuable information they can pass along to their customers. We appreciate the opportunity to continue serving you, and look forward to more events such as this one!
