Dear Friends,
As Secretary of the Department, I recognize that we should never settle for status quo, and that I must continually make sure we are the best we can be for our licensees and the citizens of this great state. As part of our continued commitment to doing just that, last month we announced the appointment of Cynthia Hefren as the Interim Executive Director of the Florida State Boxing Commission. Boxing and mixed martial arts are rapidly growing across the nation, and we take our responsibility to fairly regulate this industry in Florida very seriously.
With a primary focus on the safety of those involved in regulated boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts, the staff of the Boxing Commission will begin implementing improvements to its services to the industry and the state. Updated license renewals and increased standards of accountability for post-event tax collection are at the forefront of the improvements, which will ensure we are protecting the integrity of our service to Florida’s taxpayers and the licensees who fall under the Boxing Commission.
I am fully confident in Cynthia’s commitment to excellence and am proud to have her in a leadership position with the Florida State Boxing Commission. Thank you for allowing us to serve you!
Sincerely,
Ken Lawson
