May 11, 2012 Dear Friends, As Secretary, one of the things I enjoy the most is travelling across the state and getting the opportunity to meet many of our licensees and stakeholders. I think it is important that I share the message that the Department is in a partnership with our licensees, and our goal is to serve them the best we can. This week, I had the privilege to travel to South Florida to speak to the Broward and Miami chapters of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA). Hotel and restaurant licensees are vital to the state’s economy, and I was glad that I got to interact with many of them from the FRLA. Most of all, I was happy to report how much our processes have improved in the recent months. These improvements show that we are on the road to operating as efficiently as we can for our customers, which is another main goal here at DBPR. Finally, I am excited for our second Mobile Food Vendor Fair next Tuesday, May 15th, from 5-7 p.m. at our Tallahassee headquarters. The event is sponsored by the Northwood Centre, and will feature more than 10 of the mobile vendors from the Big Bend area and a live band. If you are in the area, I hope you can join us!
