DBPR Bottom Line: Fast Facts for Florida Business Leaders

June 29, 2012

Dear Friends,

As we prepare to celebrate our independence this 4th of July, I am proud to announce that the law waiving initial licensure, application and unlicensed activity fees for many military veterans will also go into effect this Sunday. Through this new law, veterans who apply for licensure within 24 months of being honorably discharged could save anywhere from a few hundred dollars to more than a thousand dollars, depending on the license type.

The new law applies to new licenses granted after July 1, 2012 for more than 20 professions under DBPR’s jurisdiction, including construction, real estate, certified public accountants and cosmetologists. For more information on the law, please visit: http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/dbprmilitary.html

This new law is a token of the state’s appreciation for our military veterans, and as you and your family celebrate this 4th of July, I encourage you to also take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by every member of our armed services, both past and present.

Lastly, I know that many of you across the state were affected by Tropical Storm Debby. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you clean up from the storm’s impact. Please have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Sincerely,

Ken Lawson
