| 2/1/2013 | Jacksonville Outreach "Jacksonville Spring Hot Tub Show" The Consumer Home Show represented multiple businesses and contractors which gave consumers and the general public the opportunity to see multiple venues at the same location.DBPR staff was able to distrubite Child Labor pamplets to business owners in regards to hiring minors. There were several questions in regards to age and prohibited occupations for minors. DBPR staff had the opportunity to explain the purpose of the Child Labor Program. Child Labor Presentations was promoted heavily as an valuble learning tool for all businesses.

| 2/1/2013 | Gainesville Outreach "Contractor Coalition" DBPR staff met with the Troy Glowth of the local Contractors Coalition. Ways in which DBPR can help him to form his new coalition of contractors was discussed. DBPR staff discussed the problems licensees are having getting jobs when so many UL contractors are taking jobs, and ideas of how to promote licensed contracotrs and getting this information out to the public. |

| 2/7/2013 | Orlando Outreach "Kissimmee Utility Authority" DBPR staff attended the Kissimmee Utility Preferred Contractor’s meeting and presented information on unlicensed activity enforcement. Department literature was distributed along with information on how to report unlicensed activity, how to verify a license and how to file a complaint if necessary. |

Investigators fielded questions from the public and other participants from the show. Other vendors participating in the show were appreciative of the DBPR'S participation and especially appreciative of disbursement of literature to the public on the subject of Unlicensed Activity. |

| 1/25/2013 | Jacksonville Outreach "Mary Poppins Stage Production" DBPR staff observed a stage play the included minors. The objective was to make sure the production was ran according to child labor laws. DBPR staff observed the security, environment and schedule for the minors. Minors entering and leaving the stage by performing; singing, dancing, running, climbing stairs, riding on the backs of other performers along with just standing and sittting with no hazards was also observed. |

| 11/06/2012 | Tampa Outreach "Pinellas County Sheriff's Office" The purpose of the outreach was to provide the audience with information on unlicensed activity enforcement and to discuss a partnership with DBPR and PCSO for future proactive enforcement. The reporting investigator gave a Power Point presentation on proactive enforcement. The outcome of the outreach is to partner with PCSO in a proactive enforcement operation in early December.

| 11/09/2012 | Orlando Outreach "New Smyrna Beach High School" DBPR staff was invited to speak at New Smyrna Beach High School by Mrs. Tara Shea, O.J.T.Teacher. The goal was to teach 9th-12th grade students about the Florida Child Labor Law. All the students were very receptive and engaged in the presentation and presented the staff with many questions, all of which, were answered. |

The students met in their classrooms and were presented with information pertaining to being an investigator. Topics included; what an investigator does, how to become an investigator, what degree (s) are needed, etc. The children received the information well, and interaction was encouraged with much participation. |

| 10/1/2012 | Gainesville Outreach "Chiefland High School" DBPR staff educated students on the Child Labor Laws, things they can and cannot do in the workplace and their rights as minors. In this outreach students are given a little history as to how the Child Labor Laws came about during the Industrial Revolution, and why it is so important they learn the rules that must be followed by them and the employer. |

| 10/3/2012 | Pensacola Outreach "West Florida Home Builders Association" This presentation was a joint effort by DBPR Staff and Escambia County Building Official Amru Meah and his staff. Meah spoke on building department operations and ways his department could assist the attendees, and his staff provided clearer code interpretation. During Q&A session Investigators addressed DBPR’s ULA enforcement activities, described the various ways ULA is combated through investigations, sweeps and sting operations. Attendees were advised when ULA is reported DBPR will either directly or through the assistance of the local enforcement agencies immediately address ULA complaints. | 10/3/2012 | Jacksonville Outreach " Real Estate Agents, Brokers and Jacksonville Sheriff Office" DBPR along with the SAO 4th Judicial Circuit, Tom Stephens Better Business Bureau and Ken Amaro Consumer Advocate for Channel 12 news gave a presentation to the attendees on unlicensed activity. Each agency touched on their approach to unlicensed activity and gave information to the audience on how to contact their specific department to report unlicensed activity as well as file complaints. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was in attendance along with Northeast Florida Builders Assoc. Attendees had a lot of questions and expressed how they enjoyed the presentation.

The focus of this meeting was on security issues with the upcoming RNC (Republican National Conference) being held in Tampa, FL in August 2012. Attendees shared crime intelligence information as it was related to their community and agency.

| 4/6/2012 | Tallahassee Outreach "LYND Manager and Maintenance Personell Education" The Department received a phone call from Larry Nellis of Hart Contractors (CBC1255765) who does Code Enforcement Corrections for LYND properties in the Tallahassee area. NELLIS was asked by LYND management to speak to their property managers and maintenance personell in regards to the requirements of licensure and permits for work performed on their properties. NELLIS requested the presence of a DBPR investigator and City of Tallahassee Code Enforcement Inspector Anthony Maccarone. This Investigator and Inspector Maccarone provided clarification to several questions the audience had regarding permits and licensure for airconditioning, plumbing, and electrical work. |

| 4/9/2012 | Tallahassee Outreach "Fun Station Jr." On April 9, 2012, DBPR Investigator visited the Fun Station Jr. Owner at his store location- located at the above address. The purpose of this employer training outreach was to educate the owner on the recurrent violations and also on our Florida Child Labor Law. The owner and DBPR staff discussed all aspects of the law: hour limitations, breaks, waiver forms, hazardous occupations, violations, proof of age, etc…, especially the three violations: working minors during school hours, working minors without a 30 minute break, and working minors without the proper proof of age. Currently there are four minors employed. |

| 4/9/2012 | Jacksonville Outreach "Insurance Fraud" DBPR staff was contacted by the Dept. of Insurance Fraud Unit to discuss a sting operation they want to conduct on licensed roofers who are scamming the public. Cpt. McCoy stated he would like for the Jax office to be involved. They are going to have a roof inspected and then bring roofers out that they have had complaints on to see if they get on the roof and cause damage to the roof so they can get the job. They will have surveilence camera's and undercover working the site. Cpt. McCoy will be contacting the Clay Co. sheriff's office and meeting with them first and then will make contact with RPA Sandra Rentfrow for a follow up meeting. |

| 4/10/2012 | Tampa Outreach "Meeting with Hillsborough County Deputy Tax Collector" The outreach was a one-on-one networking meeting to inform the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office about: (1) the role of DBPR, (2) the enforcement efforts of the Division of Regulation, and (3) possible ways the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office can assist with educating businesses about DBPR licensing and enforcement. DBPR pamphlets and promotional items were provided to Deputy Tax Collector Charles Anrecio for distribution to Hillsborough County Tax Collector employees and local businesses. The goal of the outreach appeared to be met as Deputy Tax Collector Charles Anrecio displayed an understanding of DBPR and the Division of Regulation. |

The purpose of this employer training outreach was to educate the owner on Florida Child Labor Law. | 4/19/2012 | Tampa Outreach "Elder Consumer Protection Law Day Think Tank Breakfast" DBPR staff attended the Elder Consumer Protection Law Day Think Tank Breakfast at Stetson College of Law. The guest speaker was Hubert “Skip” Humphrey, III – Assistant Director of the Office for the Financial Protection of Older Americans – Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Mr. Humphrey gave a short presentation then there was discussion about local efforts to protect older consumers from financial fraud and scams. |

| 4/19/2012 | Jacksonville Outreach " Division of Condominiums Education Seminar" DBPR staff partnered with Jan Shekitka, Research and Training Specialist with CTHM on an Educational Seminar. Each licensee received one hour of Continuing Education Credit by the Division of CTMH. Jan gave his presentation on Budgets, Reserves, Financial Reporting and the Complaint Process. (about 35-40 mintues) Once he completed his presentation I conducted a Q & A with with the audience. I covered topics to include alleged violations of 61E14-2.001 Standards of Professional Conduct : section (b) A licensee shall not knowingly fail to comply with the requirements of the documents by which the associastion is created. Section 6 (a) (b) A licensee shall not withold possession of any original books or records of the association; A licess shall not deny access to association records. |

| 4/19/2012 | West Palm Beach Outreach "East Coast Migrant Head Start Meeting" This meeting was an opportunity for the DBPR Investigators to meet Mrs. Matilde Ortega and Mrs. Sarah King of the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project and to learn their mission as it relates to outreach and in-house services to Seasonal families of Agricultural workers. The Head Start Project gives them free services such as; child care, school readiness, health services, nutritional meals, transportation, and many more. To be eligible for these services, their children must be between the ages of 6 weeks to 5.11 years, and the family's primary income must derive from agricultural work. As representatives of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, we, investigators explained the Department’s mission as it relates to Chapter 450, Part III, F.S. (Farm Labor Contractor Registration Law) and our role within it, especially the enforcement that is designed to protect the Florida farm workers. We covered the points of law without being too detailed but still provided a full understanding of what is required by Florida Statute such as; Liability Insurance, Worker's Compensation, resolving complaints, inspection of the transportation vehicle, field sanitation and safety. The meeting was very informative. |

| 3/5/2012 | Pensacola Outreach "Afternoon Speaking Engagement at Choice School" DBPR staff spoke to students in the afternoon class at CHOICE High School and Technical Center in Ft. Walton Beach in regards to the Department's role with regulation and inspections of Cosmetology and Barber establishments. Material distributed went over what licenses were needed to perform certain services, what we look for during an inspection, and the disciplinary process of NNC, Citation and Case. It was also emphasized that as Inspectors and Investigators we wanted to have compliance and would allow for such if it was possible during the inspection. Dangers of MMA were also covered in this presentation. A teacher and multiple students were unaware of the new rule change to supervised practice in which a student must pass both parts of the exam and submit their application before working. They were still under the impression/taught that as long as they had applied to take the exam, they would be able to work. A question of apprenticeship/supervised hours in a licensed salon (which is required by the school) was brought up and the students were informed that compensation is not defined, therefore credit hours could count as compensation. Students were told that they could perform shampooing and sweeping for compensation. |

| 3/20/2012 | Tampa Outreach "University of South Florida Pro Day" DBPR staff attended the University of South Florida’s (USF) Pro Day in which National Football League (NFL) scouts and athlete agents (licensees) attempt to procure athletes for the upcoming NFL Season. The goals of the outreach were to: (1) inform licensees of current unlicensed activity enforcement efforts, (2) obtain ideas on future unlicensed activity enforcement, and (3) field any questions and concerns about current licensing issues. Given the presence of friends and family members of athletes, the reporting investigator also engaged non-licensees in conversation about State of Florida athlete agent licensing requirements and the importance of contracting with a licensed athlete agent. The goals of the outreach were met. Attending licensees appeared to be pleased with DBPR’s efforts towards unlicensed activity enforcement. Licensees offered a viable idea for future unlicensed activity enforcement. This will be discussed with management for implementation in the near future. Minimal questions and concerns about current licensing issues were expressed. The added goal of informing friends and members of athletes about athlete agent regulation also served as an effective means of unlicensed activity prevention. |

| 3/21/2012 | West Palm Beach Outreach "Farm Labor" DBPR staff attended the Agricultural Meeting. The meeting was conducted as a speaker style presentation. This training aimed at Farm Labor Contractors and growers in the glades area but inclusive to anyone to ensure compliance with farm labor, transportation and Child Labor laws even though we did not discuss Child Labor. Knight Management discussed Child Labor in that absolutely no one under the age of 18 will be allowed onto the farm. This was an opportunity for DBPR Investigators to educate attendees about the law and any changes through enforcement and proactive out reach. We also discussed the up coming change to Finger Printing and advised that as soon as the particulars are known to us they will be advised also. Further we spoke of the need to be watchful of hiring simply because a driver has an application which is not accepted, Posting requirements, Driver License, Field Sanitation, Field payroll records and registration requirements. We Learn from other presenters namely management about their various requirements which are numerous and the farming industry as it relates to various protections Safety and quality control. The participants (audience) was afforded an opportunity to ask questions as it relates to requirements under chapter 450 part III, F.S. |

Participants were each given a file folder with all posting documents for future reference and resource. Workers were informed of their Right to know, and who they should contact in case they have a problem in the work place. Workers were informed that they should inform the grower if they are having problems with the crew leader and also they could call our Department if they needed. Workers were each given a Farm workers Helpline card also. The workers expressed their utmost thanks for this service by the Department.,and were happy that the grower allowed this time for them to know their rights. Some workers asked questions and this Investigator answered. |

A DBPR investigator explained that the department has been receiving complaints from licensed contracts that supply houses have been selling supplies to unlicensed contractors. A DBPR investigator explained that even though we cannot tell them who to sell supplies to and who not to, the DPBPR investigator provided his business card and information and merely explained the situation. Mr. Blanton stated that he hears complaints as well from his licensed contractors that come into the supply house. Mr. Blanton stated that he does not sell AC units to unlicensed contractors but will sell them parts. |

The group discussed unlicensed construction activity and ways to end it. Neither of the Gadsden attendees offered knowledge of specific sites where such violations are in progress. The Gadsden County Officials were highly concerned about prevention of unlicensed activity, and the enforcement of the Statutes and Rules on those involved. The group discussed work sites where no building permits are obtained. The issue of the involvement of local politics in certain individual construction projects was discussed. | 1/26/2012 | Orlando Outreach "Disney Hollywood Studios Lake Buena Vista Drive" The Wonderful Creative Group produced a commercial for Disney's Science of Imagineering Education Program. The minors re-enacted activities as if they were going through the Science of Imagineering Program. No minors were injured during production and they each were required to bring at least one parent. The production crew abided by all the Florida Child Labor Laws and were very receptive of the DBPR staff presence.
