DBPR Secretary to Present Check to Academy of Entrepreneurship At Buchholz High School

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Secretary Ken Lawson of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) will present a check for $1,000 to the Academy of Entrepreneurship at Buchholz High School's Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship event this evening. The event, which promotes entrepreneurship as a viable career choice for students, will also feature local entrepreneurs as speakers.
"The future of Florida is in our students' hands," said Secretary Lawson. "We want to help provide the best atmosphere for upcoming entrepreneurs so we can continue to create jobs in our state."
Last year, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation won a national award for the efficiency of its plan review process for new hotels and restaurants. The Department is donating the award money to the Academy of Entrepreneurship at Buchholz High School.
The Academy of Entrepreneurship at Buchholz High School was established in 1993 and is a four-year program for students interested in entrepreneurship, marketing and business management.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation's mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The Department licenses and regulates more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from hotels and restaurants, real estate agents and accountants to veterinarians, contractors and cosmetologists.
