The advisory council was created by the Florida Legislature to:

• promote better relations, understanding, and cooperation between the hospitality industry and the division;

• to offer ways to better protect the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens and visitors using the hospitality industry services;
• to provide knowledge and experience concerning the industries and individual businesses affected by the laws and rules administered by the division; and
• to promote and coordinate the development of programs to educate and train personnel for such industries.
