Division of Hotels and Restaurants
Inspection Frequency
All public food service and lodging establishments require an inspection to ensure compliance with public health and safety laws upon initial licensure. The Division of Hotels and Restaurants routinely inspects public food service establishments 2-3 times per year. Transient lodging establishments--such as hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts--are also inspected 2-3 times per year. Nontransient lodging, such as apartments and rooming houses, are inspected 1-2 times per year. The division inspects resort dwellings (single family homes rented transiently) and resort condominiums in response to complaints.
