Department of Business and Professional Regulation Launches New Unlicensed Activity Web Page
December 15, 2009
Today, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation launched a new unlicensed activity Web page in a continuing effort to educate the public about unlicensed activity. The new Web page, which can be found at MyFloridaLicense.com, educates consumers, licensees and partners about the department’s unlicensed activity prevention, education and enforcement efforts.
Unlicensed activity can have a devastating effect on consumers and professionals. DBPR works to combat unlicensed cosmetology through a three-tiered approach—education, prevention and enforcement.
“The goal of the new unlicensed activity Web page is to arm consumers with the knowledge they need to protect themselves from unlicensed activity,” said Interim Secretary Charlie Liem. “By providing easy Web access to this information, we hope to engage consumers in our efforts to prevent unlicensed activity.”
The Web page features include: statistics on the department’s enforcement efforts, information about how consumers can protect themselves, unlicensed activity in the news, advertisements for the unlicensed activity media campaign, recent cease and desist notices and convictions, frequently asked questions and more.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. DBPR licenses nearly one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
