Why Not? Spring Break Video contest History

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation launched the first "Why Not?" Spring Break Video Contest in 2009 in advance of the spring break holiday. Florida's beaches are popular destinations, and sometimes underage youth are faced with the decision of whether to drink alcohol underage. The contest was created to engage 14- to 20-year-olds in the dialogue on underage drinking and enable them to communicate with one another through short videos. In the first year, more than 30 videos were submitted, and three winners were selected.

DBPR's Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco's mission is to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of underage persons, to ensure that licensed establishments are in compliance with the laws and rules regulating the industry in Florida, and to collect taxes and fees related to these industries.
