The Department of Business and Professional Regulation Partners with Hialeah Police Department to Shut Down Unlicensed Barber Shop
December 18, 2009
Investigators from the Department of Business and Professional Regulations Division of Regulation in partnership with the Hialeah Police Department shut down Major League Cutz, located 2851 West 68th Place, for operating without a barber shop license. In addition to the barber shop not being licensed, three individuals, Romel Mendieta, Victor Tello, and Pedro Lopez, were issued $500 citations for offering barber services without a license.
Major League Cutz was cited by DBPR in 2008 for operating without a license. The citation was not paid and investigators found that the shop was still operating. The HPD issued the owner of the barber shop, Carlos C. Medero, a notice to appear for operating an unlicensed barber shop.
The department’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
