Bottom Line Header

February 15, 2008

Dear Friends:

This will be my last edition of The Bottom Line. On Tuesday, I joined the Governor as he announced that he has asked me to serve as his Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration. And while I love the people I worked with both inside and outside of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, I think you know how hard it is to tell this Governor no.

I am very proud of all that we did together over the last year to improve the way our Department does business. I hope you saw and felt the tremendous strides this team took in enhancing customer service. We believe that you are essential to the economy of Florida and that we are essential to you. And this year we have a number of things in store to continue to reduce the regulatory burdens and fees we place on Floridas businesses and professionals.

Please know that as I move to my new position that I will continue to think of you. For too many of Floridas businesses, and especially the small businesses, finding affordable health insurance is a major challenge. I will be looking for ways to help make it more affordable, and I hope that you will let me know your ideas.

My last day will be February 22nd, and while we do not yet know who will follow me, I know that as a former Deputy Secretary of DBPR, the Governor has a special spot in his heart for DBPR, for our team and for you as our customers. I am sure he will place you in good hands.

Thank you for the tremendous support you have shown my team and me. It has been an honor and a privilege serving you, and I hope that during my time here I have helped make DBPR and Florida even better places to do business.

Sincerely,
Secretary Benson Signature
