This week, the annual Legislative Session kicked off and Governor Scott gave his first State of the State address. During his address, the Governor talked about ending unnecessary regulations so businesses can thrive in Florida. I know our department wholeheartedly supports this goal because above everything else, getting Florida back to work is our primary focus.
Over the next two months, we're going to be taking a hard look at every single regulation and working with the Legislature to figure out ways we can make it easier for businesses to come to Florida, grow in Florida, and create jobs in Florida. The rules and regulations that impact businesses and professionals in this state have accumulated over the years and our business community knows this because they are affected by it, every single day. I'm sure there are many of these rules that are out-dated; their purposes have long lost meaning and they're just sitting on the books. These are the ones that have to go, and I'm looking forward to having the Legislature conduct a good house-cleaning with our regulations.
Here are DBPR, we will remain focused and will maintain the highest standards of excellence for the customers we serve. We have to continue to offer great service because many of our customers have no where else they can go for help. This is an important responsibility, one we take very seriously. Please let us know how we can continue to improve our service to the state and make Florida the best place to be in business.
