May 22, 2009 Dear Friends: As many of you spend time with friends and family this Memorial Day weekend, please take the time to recognize what this holiday is all about—remembering those who have died in our nation's service. The great sacrifices that have been made by our ancestors, family members and friends have been made to provide us with a freer and safer nation. It takes a great amount of courage and selflessness to serve in the armed forces. The people who serve our country truly put themselves aside and work toward a common goal of a brighter future for Americans. In addition to honoring those who lost their lives in military service, May is also the month of law enforcement appreciation week. Much like those who enter the armed forces, law enforcement officers work throughout the state and our local communities to protect us. In the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, agents work to ensure that alcohol remains out of the hands of the underage and that licensed establishments abide by state law. Thank you to our ABT agents and law enforcement throughout the state for what you do to keep Floridians and visitors safe. Thank you to those who serve in our armed forces. This weekend, I will be taking the time to honor those who dedicated themselves and sacrificed their lives serving our country. Sincerely, ![]() Charles W. Drago Department of Business and |
