DBPR Bottom Line: Fast Facts for Florida Business Leaders

June 3 , 2011

Dear Friends,

As Secretary, I have pledged that our number one priority is making Florida the best place for businesses and professionals to operate. Moreover, fulfilling our mission to "license efficiently, regulate fairly" starts with providing excellent service to the state and listening to our customers. Here are just a few examples of how DBPR is doing that:

First, DBPR's staff was recognized at Thursday's Prudential-Davis Productivity Awards ceremony. These awards acknowledge state workers' efforts to increase productivity and efficiency around the workplace to benefit Florida's taxpayers and businesses. I am proud to report that we received a total of 21 awards and, as a result of our employee's hard work, DBPR has been credited with saving the state more than $1.7 million.

Second, I firmly believe the only way to ensure DBPR is fully functioning is to hear directly from you. This not only means keeping my door open in Tallahassee, but it also means that I come to you. On Wednesday, I spoke at the Workforce Development Board's annual business summit in Daytona Beach. It was my pleasure to hear their concerns about Florida's business climate and share my goals for DBPR. On June 6th, I will attend the Seminole Tribe's swearing-in ceremony for the new Tribal Chairman and meet more of our partners at that event. Finally, I am honored to speak at the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Board meeting in Naples on June 15th. As I said earlier, if I am to serve our state, our licensees and business partners, I must extend myself beyond Tallahassee.

Here at DBPR, we value two-way communication with our customers and partners. Thank you for working with us and keep the feedback coming!

Sincerely,

Ken Lawson
