June 10, 2011 Dear Friends, At the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, protecting Florida's youth through our Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is an important priority, one that takes on more significance as the school year comes to an end and more teenagers are spending their time away from adult supervision. This year, we are working with Orange County on an initiative to help prevent the access, sale, and possession of alcoholic beverages to underage consumers. As a result of this partnership with the Orange County Coalition for a Drug Free Community, business owners will receive additional training tips to share with their employees as well as signs to post in their establishment notifying the public they are dedicated to following the law. Through this initiative, we are working to significantly reduce the rate of underage alcohol consumption and help our youth have a safe and enjoyable summer. We are also excited to see the continued emphasis Governor Scott has placed on job creation, highlighted by his successful Canadian trade mission this week. The Governor's mission to bring business to Florida is critical to our state's success, and DBPR will continue working to make sure our state welcomes new businesses and professionals and encourages business growth and development. Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
