July 9, 2010 Dear Friends, The Florida Legislature has directed the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to consolidate computing facilities into one location by November 30, 2010. DBPR's single licensing system, which is the sole licensing and regulatory database, is currently located in Miami. It's a daunting task to move a system that contains the livelihood of those you serve. However, when you have dedicated employees who keep customer service in the forefront of their minds, it makes the challenge accomplishable. Tonight, DBPR's Division of Information Technology employees will be moving the system from Miami to Tallahassee. In order to reduce the impact on our customers, our team will work through the night to ensure a smooth transition. By working through the night, the system will only be out of commission from 9 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. Saturday morning. To most of our customers, this transition will be seamless. I am grateful to have such a committed team who values customer service. This approach to a task is exactly what we do at DBPR—we first consider how it affects those we serve and next how to best accomplish it to make it a positive experience for our customers. Sincerely, ![]() Charlie Liem Department of Business and |
