July 15, 2011 Dear Friends, Getting Florida back to work is our Department's top priority, and making our application process for our professional licensees more efficient and easier to navigate is critical to that mission. We recently launched the ApplyNow! Initiative, which is set to revise the applications of 19 professions over a 12-month period through careful analysis and common sense review. In the first month of the plan, implementation teams for each profession will analyze the most common deficiencies found within the applications and will review all relevant statutory and rule authorities that apply to the respective profession. The teams will spend the next two months fixing any issues presented and making the necessary changes. Phase one of the ApplyNow! process started July 1 for athlete agents, barbers, construction, cosmetology, electrical contractors and appraisal management companies. Phase two, which will run October 1 through December 30, will include auctioneers, building code administrators, CPAs, home inspectors and mold-related services. Phase three, from January 2012 through March 2012, will apply to asbestos, appraisers, community association managers, geologists and veterinarians. The final phase from April 2012 through June 2012 will include architects and interior designers, employee leasing, harbor pilots and talent agents. As always, DBPR is committed to our customers and our mission to license efficiently and regulate fairly. I am excited to begin this process and am confident that these changes will only improve the experience our customers have with us! Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
