August 1, 2008 Dear Friends, Yesterday was a truly remarkable day for me - both personally and professionally, and I'd like to share my experiences with you. My wife, Cindy, and I are excited to announce that our daughter, Christina, and her husband, Jay Weaver, welcomed their second son, Carson Jay, into the world. Carson weighed a whopping 10 lbs. 7 oz. and was 21 inches long. My son-in-law Jay is already trying to sign him up with the Miami Dolphins. Everyone is doing fine, and Carson's big brother, Zach (2), is getting used to having competition in the family. Being a grandfather is one of the best things in life, and now it is twice as good! Professionally, I also received great news yesterday. Governor Charlie Crist appointed me to serve as the Secretary of the Department. Governor Crist understands the importance of creating a business friendly environment that also regards the safety and protection of the consumer as a top priority. I am eager to continue to serve the people of Florida and our business community and professionals in my new capacity as Secretary. I am humbled by yesterday's events and overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of family and the trust of Governor Crist to continue to lead this Department in providing you with great service. Sincerely, ![]() Charles W. Drago Department of Business and |
