September 9, 2011 Dear Friends, Here at DBPR, we always enjoy hearing good things our licensees are doing or successes they are accomplishing within their businesses. As I keep hearing these success stories, I thought it would be appropriate to share a couple of them. First, the Jacksonville Kennel Club (JKC) was recently approved to relocate its cardroom. As a result of the relocation, JKC estimates the cardroom will create approximately 200 new jobs for the Jacksonville area. Additionally, the kennel club donated their former space to be used to build a charter school, which is currently in its second year of operation. Next, it is no secret that the mobile food truck industry is taking off all over the country. One mobile food truck operating out of Miami was recently able to expand their business as a result of their hard work. Latin Burger and Taco opened a second truck operating with the same name in Miami, which is very exciting! I know that these are just a couple of the many success stories that are out there. Through the positive efforts our licensees make each day, it is no doubt Florida is the best place to live, work and play! Finally, this Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the United States and I am reminded how fortunate we are to live in this nation established on the principal of freedom. I encourage you to remember those who lost their lives that day and those that continue to fight for our freedom. Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
