September 10, 2010 Dear Friends: One of the best parts of my job is helping aspiring professionals on the paths to their careers. This week, DBPR announced the recipients of the CPA Education Minority Assistance Program scholarship winners. Nine individuals are receiving funds to help them with the cost of education. The total amount paid is $84,000, and the money comes from a $5 portion of each CPA license fee. Scholarship applicants can be awarded up to $6,000 per semester for a maximum of two semesters. The Florida Board of Accountancy's Certified Public Accountant Education Minority Assistance Advisory Council met on Aug. 24 and awarded scholarships to the following students: Sandra Acosta, Ana Alonso, Davaine Burke, Chelsea Sharma, Betsy Vasquez, Juanita Evurnobi, Ricot Jeanty, Sade Jenkins, and Lewis Blake. I'd like to congratulate these dedicated students on a job well done. We are proud to be a part of this scholarship, and at DBPR we believe that it's our job to help Floridians make their dreams a reality by making Florida a business-friendly environment. Sincerely, ![]() Charlie Liem Department of Business and |
