September 11, 2009 Dear Friends: Many of us consider Labor Day as the start of college football season, and, unfortunately, underage drinking occurs at tailgating parties. Our Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco agents have been working on keeping Florida's youth safe during recent weekends. While prevention and education are preferred methods for protecting our youth, ABT agents will patrol football games and enforce state laws. For the second year, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation has partnered with the Charmer Sunbelt Group, Brown-Forman, Diageo and CBS Radio to voice messages urging the safe and legal consumption of alcoholic beverages. The initiative is Tailgaters Urging Responsibility and Fun, or TURF. Boomer Esiason is the official spokesperson for the initiative. And, together, we hope to keep game day a family affair. Sincerely, ![]() Charles W. Drago Department of Business and |
