September 30, 2011 Dear Friends, This coming week, DBPR will officially be the new home for the statewide Drugs, Devices and Cosmetics (DDC) program. This program enforces Florida's Drug and Cosmetic Act by providing a regulatory structure for the industry, safeguarding our citizens from potential harm and promoting the businesses that operate within Florida. DBPR is committed to continuing and improving the dialogue between our agency and the industries regulated by state law. Throughout the transition to our Department, we have reached out to the industries for suggestions and feedback about the regulatory structure and requirements. We appreciate the feedback we've received and look forward to gathering even more. Another upcoming addition to the DBPR family will be Florida's Building Commission Codes and Standards Office. DBPR will provide technical and administrative support to the Building Commission and the Commission will continue to fulfill its normal duties of developing, updating and maintaining Florida Building Code. Although the Building Commission's Codes and Standards Office is transitioning to DBPR, please keep in mind that the Building Code will still be enforced through your local Building Department. I am excited about these new additions to the DBPR family, and look forward to serving our new customers. Thank you for allowing us to continue serving Florida's businesses and professions! Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
