October 28, 2011 Dear Friends, As Secretary of DBPR, one of my main goals is to get to know our licensees and gather feedback on the Department’s processes. This week, as part of my continued efforts to foster open lines of communication with our customers, we hosted a Summit for Mobile Food Vendors here in Leon County. At the Summit, licensees were engaged in an open forum to discuss our Division of Hotels and Restaurants’ plan review process, inspection process and licensing process. Suggestions for improvement were collected from the vendors on each of the categories, which the Division will carefully review. Additionally, I am happy to report that the Department will now be sending emails regarding license application deficiencies in addition to a letter in the mail. Each correspondence will outline any deficiencies found within the submitted application and, by sending an email, we hope that this process is more efficient for our licensees. The Department is committed to ensuring that our processes are as streamlined as possible and we are continuously looking at ways to do away with cumbersome regulations so that all businesses can grow and flourish. As always, the Department is committed to serving our customers and making Florida the best place for business! Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
