December 24, 2009 Dear Friends, This holiday season, the employees at the Department of Business and Professional Regulation have embodied the holiday spirit. As I’ve been meeting with employees and walking through the halls, I’ve heard various conversations among employees about “adopting” families who need assistance. Employees have teamed up and provided shoes, clothing and gifts for those who are less fortunate and would otherwise not have anything on Christmas morning. I’ve been touched by these selfless and compassionate acts, and it makes me grateful to work with such considerate people. It’s also been reinvigorating to break out of the daily routine and appreciate my own friends and family. Many of you may have friends and relatives from out of town visiting. If your loved ones are staying at a hotel, please remember that they deserve to stay in an environment where state standards are met. While Florida’s hospitality industry is one of the finest, on occasion a guest will find the safety or sanitation of a hotel unacceptable. Both DBPR and the industry have an investment in keeping our reputation as a tourist destination high, and so we encourage people who have complaints to file them online at www.MyFloridaLicense.com. We will continue to work together with the industry to ensure standards are met. In closing, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and for our Jewish friends, a happy Hanukah season. Sincerely, ![]() Charlie Liem Department of Business and |
