As part of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s continued efforts to improve its business processes, DBPR has recently made the reporting process for Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) significantly easier and more secure. The new process now allows licensed PEOs to use their DBPR online account to electronically submit their quarterly and annual financial reports. In addition to the savings to the state, this new process provides a quick and efficient way for PEOs to submit their required reporting and offers them immediate confirmation that it has been received.
Additionally, under Governor Scott’s leadership, there have also been significant fee cuts that directly impact the employee leasing profession. For example, in 2012, the annual assessment fee was cut by 50 percent and the licensure and renewal fees were also cut by 40 percent. To put the impact of these efforts into perspective, Florida has more than 900,000 leased employees, which represents 37 percent of the total number in the nation. These individuals are employed at 60,000 Florida businesses. With an annual Florida payroll of $25 billion, the PEO Industry is one of the largest employers in the state.
Through these fee reductions and process improvements, the 240 employee leasing companies are now able to more efficiently do business in the state and DBPR is getting out of the way of their day-to-day operations. Florida truly is a great place for business and we are happy to do our part!
