Reaching out and interacting with various groups of licensees regulated by the Department has always been one of my favorite parts of being Secretary of DBPR. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting with several real estate licensees, including members of the Lakeland Association of Realtors and the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors.
As the real estate field is growing in popularity, DBPR’s Division of Real Estate continues to receive a high number of applications for licensure for sales associates entering the profession. Just last month, there were 4,681 total sales associate exams given for real estate sales associates in Florida. In the Polk County and Tampa areas, DBPR currently has more than 16,000 real estate licensees and meeting with these licensees to discuss the goals and accomplishments of the Department proved to be a successful and rewarding endeavor.
While meeting with licensees in Polk County, it occurred to me just how important the integrity of this field is to the licensed real estate professionals of Florida. Moving forward, the Department aims to continue improving the standards and regulation of the profession while taking initiatives to keep the public informed. As part of DBPR’s efforts to uphold the integrity of the real estate field, I want to remind Florida home buyers and sellers to hire only licensed real estate professionals. Before any efforts necessitating a licensed real estate professional are performed, consumers should always verify the individual’s State of Florida professional license, which can be verified online at www.myfloridalicense.com or by calling 850.487.1395.
