This week has been a very exciting and eventful week here at the Department! I am proud to announce that more than 200 of our employees will receive Prudential – Davis Productivity Awards, accounting for cost savings of more than $4 million and an estimated $3.3 billion that went back into Florida’s economy by allowing qualified businesses and professionals to begin operating and earning revenue faster.
The awards represent many of the process improvements I have discussed over the past two years. All of these improvements allow us to more efficiently assist our customers and allow licensees to focus on their businesses and their bottom line. I am extremely proud of the work these dedicated public servants have done for the people of this great state!
I am also pleased to introduce our new Division Director of the Division of Hotels and Restaurants. Diann Worzalla has a long career protecting the public health, safety and welfare in public food service establishments, beginning as an inspector with the Brevard County Health Department. Director Worzalla’s appointment marks the first time an inspector has ascended to the top position in the Division and I am confident she will do a fantastic job.
Last but not least, DBPR will recognize April as Florida Landscape Architecture Month. Landscape architects are skilled professionals who help maintain communities across Florida. From Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, our state’s natural beauty is better preserved because of the work of landscape architects.
It has been a great week, and I am happy that we are continuing on our mission to be the best we can be for our customers and Florida’s consumers. It is a pleasure to have the ability to continue serving you!
