March 30, 2012 Dear Friends, March is Women’s History Month, and as the month came to a close, I thought it was important to celebrate some of the businesswomen in Tallahassee, many of which were DBPR licensees. I believe for any professional to succeed in their ventures, it is important that they network with other talented professionals so they may learn from one another. To this end, I was excited to welcome more than 50 businesswomen this week at our “Celebrating Women in Business” panel discussion at the Department. The panel was designed to help businesswomen network, and also give them the opportunity to ask distinguished panelists questions about their business experiences. We were thrilled to have Karen Moore, the CEO of Moore Consulting Group, moderate the event, and have Deborah Curry, CEO of the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), Penny Herman, owner of Penny Herman Realty, Jackie Watts, owner of Watts Mechanical and Eulinda Jackson Smith, licensed cosmetologist, as our four panelists to answer audience questions. I was very happy to have the opportunity to celebrate many of Tallahassee’s top women in business, and thrilled to have the pleasure to meet even more of our licensees and stakeholders in person. Fostering your business development is one of our priorities here at DBPR, and I thank you for allowing us to serve you! Sincerely, ![]() Ken Lawson Department of Business and |
