Dear Friends,

One morning before work this week, I had the privilege to speak to a group of small business owners who call Tallahassee home. This meeting, like many others, allowed me the opportunity to talk about what it is that we do here at the Department and initiatives we are engaged in to make the regulatory process one that is less burdensome. We understand that many of our licensees are small business owners and entrepreneurs who are merely trying to make ends meet and we want to do our part to make it easier on them.

One part of the meeting that really resonated with me was when the members went around the room and introduced themselves and their businesses and explained what each day was like for them personally and professionally. I really wanted them to understand that I heard them and that I can appreciate what it is like for them day-to-day. The Department has made large strides in improvements to our processes so that we may allow qualified businesses to get to work quicker and more efficiently. One of these initiatives is the ApplyNow! project which is in the final stages. Through ApplyNow! old applications were reviewed and changes were made so they make more sense for each respective profession and our customers. We never want our processes to be cumbersome just for the sake of being so, and we are dedicated to making them better for you.

We know our work is not done and we will continue to make improvements for our customers. Through the leadership of Governor Scott, the economy is getting better, and we realize that anything we can do here at the Department to make things better for our licensees is the way we need to go. As always, I am open to receiving any ideas you may have for improvements to our processes. Thank you for allowing us to continue serving you!
