Secretary Drago Names Jerry Geier Director of Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco

TALLAHASSEE—Today Department of Business and Professional Regulation Secretary Charles W. Drago announced the appointment of Jerry Geier as the Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
“Through his service in the Division, Jerry has proven himself as a leader and demonstrated his commitment to the Division’s mission. He will continue to move the Division in a positive direction and protect Florida’s visitors and consumers,” stated Secretary Drago.
Geier has served the Division since September of 2006. During that time, he has held the position of Major of the Orlando Region, Bureau Chief of Law Enforcement and Interim Director. Geier has 24 years of law enforcement experience prior to joining ABT and has served in top administrative positions in law enforcement agencies in Ohio and Florida. He has a master’s degree, bachelor’s degree and attended the Southern Police Institute.
“I am honored to serve in this new capacity as Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and continue to work with great colleagues to serve the people of Florida,” Director Geier said.
The mission of ABT is to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of underage persons, to ensure that licensed establishments are in compliance with the laws and rules regulating the industry in Florida, and to collect taxes and fees related to these industries.
