The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is holding a free, monthly educational forum for sellers and servers of alcoholic beverages. This program is part of the Division’s three-tiered approach to combating underage drinking— education, prevention, and enforcement—and coincides with the start of school and football season.
ABT agents will review spotting false identification, conduct a discussion on reasonable sales and service of alcoholic beverages, and field questions from attendees. The program is open to all and is highly recommended for sellers or servers of alcohol and any level of employee who deals with alcohol sales. No reservations are necessary. Hospitality industry professionals and staff are encouraged to attend and to invite other industry-related personnel.
The mission of ABT is to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of underage persons, to ensure that licensed establishments are in compliance with the laws and rules regulating the industry in Florida, and to collect taxes and fees related to these industries.
The Department’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The Department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
