Florida ABT Joins Tailgaters Urging Responsibility & Fun - TURF

TALLAHASSEE—As football season kicks off, an estimated 36 million Americans are packing coolers, prepping grills and gearing up to tailgate, a pre-game tradition that has become part of the game. Tailgating festivities often include alcoholic beverages, and that is why the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco has joined forces with Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, The Charmer Sunbelt Group and football legend Joe Theismann to introduce TURF - Tailgaters Urging Responsibility & Fun.
“DBPR is committed to providing education about how to drink responsibly, and TURF is a great opportunity to educate consumers,” said Secretary Charles W. Drago. “We are proud to join forces with the industry and the legendary Joe Theismann to promote responsible drinking during this year’s football season.”
Tips for safe and successful tailgating:
- Provide ample food for guests before ever consuming alcoholic beverages.
- Designate a driver prior to tailgating.
- Keep families in mind when using language.
- Support zero tolerance for underage drinking.
- Respect the fans. Respect your team. Respect the law.
