The Department of Business and Professional Regulation Launches New Web Page to Streamline Processes for Cardroom Operators
June 7, 2010
TALLAHASSEE—Today, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering announced a new Web page on MyFloridaLicense.com designed to make public information regarding authorized card games more accessible to cardroom operators. The new online list of division-authorized card games will serve as a useful reference tool for cardroom operators to find information on games that have already been approved by the division.
“It is important that we find ways to streamline processes for all our licensees. The Web page makes information regarding approved games easily accessible for our cardroom operators so they can offer the games to their customers,” said Interim Secretary Charlie Liem.
Florida statutes authorize poker and dominoes at PMW-licensed cardrooms. Games offered at licensed cardrooms must be approved by the division. The new online list will be updated as new games are approved. Cardroom operators can offer any authorized game as long as it is included within the operator’s internal controls. The games on the list can be added to internal controls by simply referencing the game as it appears online.
The Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering is charged with regulating the pari-mutuel industry and licensing those individuals participating in pari-mutuel events.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
