Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco Serves Emergency Suspension Order on Club Harem

WINTER PARK—The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco with assistance from the Winter Park Police Department served an emergency suspension order on Club Harem, 2600 Lee Rd., in Winter Park on Friday night.
ABT secured the emergency suspension order based on 27 incidents of narcotics sales.In addition, ABT has filed administrative charges involving an additional 23 charges including unnatural and lascivious acts, exposure of sexual organs and soliciting alcoholic beverages from patrons.
“Public safety is our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring that our licensees are not running establishments that could endanger Florida’s citizens and visitors,” said Secretary Charles W. Drago.“I would like to thank the Winter Park Police Department for its support and partnership in serving this emergency suspension order.”
In January of 2008, the Winter Park Police Department received information about open narcotics dealing at Club Harem.The Winter Park Police Department and ABT initiated an undercover investigation into the allegations. Agents were able to purchase several different types of narcotics, observed numerous lewd and lascivious acts as well as the service of alcoholic beverages to underage persons.
Less than two years ago, Club Harem was fined by ABT for violations including sale of narcotics, prostitution and lewd and lascivious behavior.
The mission of ABT is to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of underage persons, to ensure that licensed establishments are in compliance with the laws and rules regulating the industry in Florida, and to collect taxes and fees related to these industries.
