For the first time in Department history, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is taking its business directly to the people it serves. The “On the Road to Better Business” initiative will kick-off in Tampa and is designed to bridge the communications gap and bring a piece of the government right to the customers. As directed by Governor Crist through “Accelerate Florida: Extending Florida's Economic Horizons,” Secretary Charles W. Drago invites professionals and business owners throughout the state, starting in Tampa, to meet with him and devise ways to promote less intrusive, more effective government by identifying burdensome regulation.

During “On the Road to Better Business,” Secretary Drago will hit the road and work from district offices across the state providing opportunities for citizens to meet and share experiences with the Department, suggestions on how to enhance business and ways the Department can promote economic development.

The Department’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The Department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
