DBPR Commends Passage of SB 802 to Increase Restitution Available for Construction Claims

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) today commended the passage of SB 802 which will enable the Department to reduce the backlog of claims pending in the Construction Recovery Fund by transferring excess funds from a related professional board account.
The bill will transfer certain excess funds from the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board to the Florida Homeowners’ Construction Recovery Fund. The bill was sponsored by Senator Alan Hays (R – Umatilla). The companion bill, HB 57 sponsored by Representative Elizabeth Porter (R – Lake City), passed the House of Representatives on April 24, 2013. The bill will now be sent to the Governor to be signed into law.
