AUTHORIZED CARD GAMES

The following list is being provided as a reference tool for cardroom operators so they can know poker games that the division acknowledges are authorized games of poker under Section 849.086, Florida Statutes. This list is offered simply as a current reference of acknowledged poker games. The list is not intended to exclude other games that might constitute an authorized game under Section 849.086, Florida Statutes, and may be updated from time to time as the division receives submissions to add to the list.

Florida Statutes authorize the play of poker and dominoes at cardrooms licensed by the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering. However, Florida Statutes do not allow for any game, including poker and dominoes, which is played in a banking manner.

Some card games included in this list have been patented and/or copyrighted. Such games are included in this list solely as an indication that the division acknowledges that they are authorized games of poker under Section 849.086, Florida Statutes. Inclusion in this list does not indicate that such games may be played without the approval of the owner of any patent or copyright. The division does not have statutory authorization to resolve or assume liability for any disputes between an operator and an owner of any patent or copyright.

Cardroom operators have the discretion to offer any authorized game of poker or dominoes for play. However, since each cardroom operator is licensed by the division, the division suggests that cardroom operators review Section 849.086, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 61D-11, Florida Administrative Code, to ensure poker games offered are compliant with all statutes and rules. Specifically, the division would point out that Rule 61D-11.019(4)(i), Florida Administrative Code, requires a list of all authorized games to be included within a cardroom operator’s internal controls with a description of the rules of play and wagering requirements. This list is the Divisions way of efficiently, effectively and fairly regulating authorized games for all licensed facilities. If a game on this list is not currently included in your internal controls, you can add the game by simply referencing it as it appears on this list.
