Tropical Storm Isaac Renewal Deadline Extension FAQs
I understand the license renewal deadline date has been moved from August 31, 2012 to September 14, 2012. Is this a permanent change?
No. The September 14, 2012 renewal deadline date is a one-time extension to accommodate contractors and electrical contractors who may have difficulties renewing their license because of the effects from Tropical Storm Isaac. Your next renewal will be due by August 31, 2014.
Do I still need to complete my required continuing education credits now that the deadline has been extended.
Yes. The requirement for CE credits has not changed. Only the deadline for completion of CE courses has been extended. You cannot renew your license without proof of completion of your required CE. You will have until September 14, 2012, to complete your require CE.
I am planning on completing the required CE credits during the extended time period. Can I fax proof of my CE credits to speed up my renewal process?
Yes, you may expedite your renewal by faxing your continuing education course completion certificates to the Bureau of Education and Testing at fax number 850.922.2316.
I have already renewed my license and completed all of my required CE for 2012. I am now taking a CE course prior to expiration of the September 14, 2012 deadline. Will those CE hours count toward my 2014 renewal?
Yes. As long as you met all of your required CE for 2010-2012, any CE taken after your renewal will apply to your 2014 renewal.
I cannot find a local CE Provider that offers CE classes in my community because of Tropical Storm Isaac.
You may take your CE courses online with an approved provider. You can locate a provider from the department’s website by reviewing the list of providers and courses at: http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/servop/testing/CErequirementsbyboard.html.
