DBPR staff will represent DBPR with a booth and information available to consumers.
Outreach Meeting with the 5th Judicial Circuit Assistant State Attorney
DBPR staff and Investigators will meet with the assistant state attorney to discuss the dangers and signs of unlicensed activity.
Lake & Sumter County Home Builders Association Outreach
Department representatives will host an informational booth at a local home builders association meeting.
Orlando Senior Expo Booth
DBPR staff will attend the annual senior expo in Orlando to educate seniors about unlicensed activity and the importance of hiring only licensed professionals.
Plumbing and Mechanical Trade Show
DBPR staff will attend the trade show located in Miami to speak with the public and vendors on the importance of state licensing and training through the department.
Building Officials Association of Florida
DBPR staff will attend a meeting hosted by the Building Officials Association of Florida in the Ocala-based, north Florida region. They will discuss ideas for collaboration and detecting unlicensed activity in the area.
Florida Association of Equine Practitioners booth
DBPR staff will be present at the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners meeting to host a booth with department displays and educational materials.
Tampa Outreach "Manasota Air Conditioning Contractors Association"
DBPR staff spoke with licensees Manasota Air Conditioning Contractors Association Chapter Meeting. Topic of discussion was unlicensed activity enforcement. Department literature was distributed to those in attendance. Information on reporting suspected unlicensed activity to the hotline was also given out.

Tampa Outreach "Mulberry High School
DBPR staff will be giving a presentation to Mulberry High School in Mulberry, Florida. The presentation will consist of information on Child Labor Laws. Staff will provide Child Labor posters and literature.
Tampa Outreach " Florida Swimming Pool Contractors Association
Manasota Chapter on Unlicensed Activity Enforcement. Department literature will be distributed along with information on how to report unlicensed activity.
Orlando/Daytona "Fall Home Show"
Department literature will be distributed along with information on how to report unlicensed activity.
Jacksonville Outreach "Southern Women's Show"
Jax Investigators and Child Labor Investigators will perform an Outreach at the Jax Southern Women's Show educating the Public on hiring licensed contractors and will be providing trinkets and brochures.
Fort Myers Outreach "Sarasota Bradenton Fall Home Show"
Investigators will conduct an educational outreach at the home show, talking with event attendees about the signs and dangers of unlicensed contracting in their communities. Marketing materials will be available for more information and ways to contact the department.
Jacksonville Outreach "Fall Home & Hot Tub Show"
Investigators will be present at the show with a booth set up full of materials to educate the public on the importance of the Department and hiring licensed contractors for residential work that attendees may have a vested interest in.
Tallahassee Outreach "Leon High School"
DBPR Child Labor Investigator conducted an Outreach presentation in Leon County at Leon High School-Technology Center. The outreach comprised of the director of the OJT/ Business Entrepreneurs program and 23 participating students. The students are all involved in their high schools on-the-job training course; which involves a combination of the business course curriculum and mandatory employment
Tampa Outreach " FAPHCC Conference and Trade Show
DBPR investigators set up a booth at the trade show where they handed out literature and information regarding the department. Investigators shared Department information with attendees and discussed ULA and concentrated efforts by DBPR to tackle it.
Jacksonville Outreach "Department of Labor"
DBPR Investigator performed a CILB & ECLB Outreach to the US Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Area Director, Brian Sturtecky and Investigative Staff on the awareness of ULA. CILB & ECLB brochures and business cards were provided.
Orlando Outreach "Florida Swimming Pool Association Central Florida Chapter Meeting"
DBPR staff spoke with Florida Swimming Pool and Spa Association – Central Florida Chapter. Topic of discussion was unlicensed activity enforcement. Department literature was distributed to those in attendance. Information on reporting suspected unlicensed activity to the hotline was also given out.
Gainesville Outreach"Bly's School of Cosmetology & Barbers" .
DBPR staff presented a Power Point Presentation. The Goals were to inform and educate students of laws and rules as they apply to safety, sanitation and licensing
Tallahassee Outreach " Godby High School"
DBPR staff conducted a presentation. The purpose of this meeting was to educate the minors participating in this training course, in all of the Child Labor Laws. With a solid understanding of CL law, the minors would then be better equipped for the working world, and safer with a new awareness.
Jacksonville Outreach "First Coast High School"
DBPR staff conducted a Power Point presentation to all of the students educating them about the Child Labor laws, rules and regulations to include the importance of working under safe guidelines and safe working conditions. The minors were also advised of the responsibilities the managers and owners have in following the Child Labor rules and regulations.
Jacksonville Outreach "Jacksonville Fall Home & Patio Show"
Jacksonville Region 3 staff had a booth at the Jacksonville Fall Home & Patio Show located at the Prime Osborn Convention Center to educate the Public on hiring licensed contractors and how to contact DBPR's website and ULA hotline. DBPR brochures, business cards and educational materials were also provided. The staff educated the public on what DBPR does, hiring licensed professionals , unlicensed activity, hurricane preparedness and how to contact DBPR to file a complaint or report unlicensed activity.
Fort Myers " Lemon Bay High School
DBPR Child Labor Staff conducted an outreach presentation in Charlotte County. The CL presenter covered all facets of the Child Labor Laws: Hour limitations, waivers, hazardous occupations, etc…Child Labor literatures were distributed; along with the contact information for the CL webpage.
Margate Outreach "American Institute of Wellness & Beauty"
DBPR staff conducted a cosmetology presentation to the Spanish Speaking students at the school. Instructor Anabel De LaVega was present during the presentation. The students and staff expressed gratitude to the department for providing presentation in Spanish
Miami Outreach " Farmer Association of Florida
DBPR staff visited We Count, a non- profit organization. This investigator introduced herself as Farm Labor Compliance for DBPR in Homestead. Farm Labor duties were discussed, and provided information on what the state can do to protect the farm workers.
Jacksonville Outreach " Jacksonville Senior Expo"
DBPR Jacksonville Region 3 were invited by the Council of Aging of Nassau to attend the Senior Expo as an exhibitor. DBPR staff had a booth set up with DBPR brochures and trinkets. The staff educated the public/senior citizens on unlicensed activity, hurricane preparedness and how to contact DBPR to file a complaint or report unlicensed activity
Tampa Outreach "Adult Services Resource Fair"
DBPR was an exhibitor at the Adult Services Resource Fair which was held by DCF Adult Protective Services. Professionals who serve elderly and disabled adults walked through the expo and asked questions of the exhibitors. DBPR promoted ULA awareness and explained what DBPR responsibilities are and how to contact us if assistance is needed.
Jacksonville Outreach "Crimestoppers Presentation"
Staff from DBPR to include REG, ABT, H&R, RE and DDC. All divisions had staff in the training. Kevin Gilpin, from the National Crime Stoppers Organization gave a training on Identity Theft to the staff members. Discussed way to prevent ID theft as well as discussing ways the public can change how they conduct business to keep their identity safe
Fort Myers Outreach "2013 Citrus Expo"
This annual event is an opportunity for the Farm Labor investigators to network with Citrus industry employers and growers and discuss Farm Labor, registration, harvesting, recruiting and transportation issues.
Jacksonville Outreach "Clay County Senior Expo"
Jacksonville staff had a booth at the Clay County Senior Expo held at the Thrasher Horne Conference Center to educate Senior Citizens and the Public on hiring licensed contractors and how to contact DBPR's website and ULA hotline. DBPR brochures, business cards and trinkets were also provided. The staff educated the public on unlicensed activity, hurricane preparedness and how to contact DBPR to file a complaint or report unlicensed activity.
Margate Outreach "City of Wilton Manors"
DBPR Investigators visited the City of Wilton Manors and discussed unlicensed activity with Director for Community Development Services and other members .DBPR staff explained our role and how we can assist the cities in identifying and enforcement of unlicensed individuals. Also discussed our involvement in "after storm" activities.
Orlando Outreach "Southeast Builders Conference"
DBPR staff were in attendance. Investigators answered general questions, mostly about unlicensed activity and continuing education. DBPR brochures were also provided.
Jacksonville Outreach " Home Depot"
DBPR staff visited the Home Depot and set up a table reaching out to the public educating them on hiring licensed contractors. CILB and ECLB brochures and trinkets were provided to include hurricane prepardness magnets.
Orlando Outreach "Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Association Trade Show"
Investigators staffed a trade show booth, provided information, and answered questions during the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Show.
Miami Outreach "Hurricane Safety Fair 2013"
The event was opened to the public for the 2013 Hurricane Safety Fair. City of the Doral Representative, local organizations and businesses that provided assistance before, during and after a storm. Some of the businesses were Simply Health, Navarro Pharmacy, Ace Hardware, State Farm, Salvation Army, Secure Windows, Doral Building Department, Doral Public Works, Doral Police Department and the department.
Gainesville Outreach "Home Depot"
DBPR staff met with the general public to discuss licensed contractors after traumatic events. Literature was dustributed for contracting in the state of Florida. DBPR staff also met with Contractors, Building Officials and Emergency Management Personnel who were in attendence
Tampa Outreach "Lakeland Skate World"
An educational and training presentation was performed for Lakeland Skate World. The company employees approximately 6 minors. At the conclusion of the training, managers were able to ask questions pertaining to how the Florida Child Labor laws relate to their particular type of business.
Tallahassee Outreach "Big Bend Air Conditioning Contractor Association"
DBPR staff presented inofrmation to BBACA members. The roles of DBPR and Unlicensed Activity were discussed. DBPR staff answered questions regarding the reporting of and handling of handling of Unlicensed contracting investigations and cases.
Orlando Outreach "Hurricane Expo 2013 "
In conjunction with Orange County Consumer Fraud, DBPR staffed a booth at the 2013 Orange County Hurricane Expo. Information about unlicensed activity was provided and unlicensed activity questions were answered.
Tampa Outreach " JP Morgan Chase Hurricane Expo "
DBPR staff attended the 2013 JP Morgan Chase Hurricane Preparedness Expo for their employees. Department literature was distributed and information was provided on the need to hire a licensed professional, how to verify a license and how to file a complaint if needed.
Tallahassee Outreach"Senior Expo"
There was 2-3 Minute presentation about the department. After lunch tradeshow style where guests asked more questions at the booth. Most of the questions were about actions taken by the Department against offenders and how to check and see if someone is licensed. The Department presented several broshures to guest for mostly Construction related services. Guest really liked the cups and tapemeasures
Margate Outreach " Cedar Hills Shopping Center
Outreach event with seniors from the City of Coconut Creek. Spoke with residents regarding "after storm"activities. Discussed unlicensed activity with attendees of the event.
Miami"Migrant Services Council"
In the council meeting there were various organizations present, such as Health Sanitation, DBPR, Workforce, University of Florida , National council of la Raza and Migrant Farm worker Justice Project. This meeting was to introduce DBPR and staff memebers as Farm Labor compliance and Health Sanitation Specialist. The Department's mission and the duties of Farm Labor Investigator were the topics of discussion. The audience was educated as to the statutory requirements for someone to become a crew leader according to 450.3 law. There was a Question and Answer session.
