General Exam Administration Policy Regarding Scheduling
If you are unable to attend the examination for which you were scheduled, you may be excused for the following reasons:
• Your illness or that of an immediate family member;
• Death in the immediate family;
• Disabling traffic accident;
• Court appearance or jury duty; or
• Military duty.
All candidates seeking excused absences must submit written verification and supporting documentation of the situation to the Department/Bureau of Education & Testing (BET) or their Contracted vendors, Professional Testing Inc. for Construction or Pearson VUE for all Computer Testing no later than four (4) days after the original examination date. Documentation of medical absences must have the original signature of the medical practitioner. Stamped signatures will NOT be accepted. If the candidate cannot be accommodated due to unexcused absence, they will be liable for the test fee for that day in addition to the new test fee and classified as a No Show.
An unexecused Anbsence will result in candidate paying exam administartion fee again or having to reapply to DBPR/BET.
COMPUTER TESTING WITH DBPR VENDOR:
Candidates taking a computer-based examination through Pearson VUE will be required to submit a valid email address, telephone number and pay at the time the exam is scheduled, either through Pearson VUE web site or toll free line. Candidates will not be able to pay on the date of the exam. To assist candidates without a credit card, Pearson VUE has a "voucher" system of payment; more details will be provided when they become available. Once the appropriate Board Office (DBPR) has approved a candidate’s eligibility to take an examination, the candidate’s file is sent electronically to Pearson VUE. Within 72 hours of receipt of the electronic file, Pearson VUE will email, if a valid email address is available, or mail the candidate an authorization letter. You do not have to wait for the letter to schedule your examination.

The following Trade Knowledge examinations are projected to move to Computer Based Testing (CBT) by October 2014: Roofing, Underground Utilities, Sheet Metal, Gypsum, Specialty Structure, Gas Line and Pollutant Storage Contractors. The last pencil & paper administration for these categories was June and August 2014.
This change will result in the Bureau of Education & Testing administering the pencil & paper examination on Wednesday only for all remaining categories. Candidates who were already scheduled for their Air 'B' category on a Tuesday will now be tested on Wednesday. Reporting time is 7:00 AM.
Irrigation, Commercial Pool, Residential Pool, Service Pool and Solar Contractors examinations Trade Knowledge parts were moved to Computer Based Testing on March 25, 2014.
Glass & Glazing and Marine Specialty Trade Knowledge examinations were moved to Computer Based Testing format (CBT) on November 01, 2012.
Business and Finance examination part for all categories were moved to Computer Based Testing (CBT) format in 2009.
