Landscape Architect - Examination (LA 1)

This application is used by individuals that have graduated from a Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited school or university with a degree in landscape architecture or they are applying as a six-year work experience candidate to sit for the Landscape Architecture Registration Examination (LARE) and/or the Florida laws and rules exam.

Application Requirements:
 
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited degree in landscape architecture or six years practical experience under a registered landscape architect. The applicant may use a combination of education and experience. This is not a complete listing of all educational requirements; please see the application''s instruction page for complete information.

  • EXAMINATION: Passage of the Landscape Architecture Registration Examination (LARE) and passage of the Florida Plants & Materials examination. The LARE is administered by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB). The Florida Plants & Materials examination (Section F) is administered by the department.   • ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: Prior to licensure, applicant must submit evidence of 1 year of practical experience in addition to experience used to qualify for the exam.

    Applicants are allowed to test before completing the one-year practical experience requirement. If fulfilling one year practical experience requirement after examination, you must submit form DBPR LA 6 before an active license will be issued.
  • BUSINESS INFORMATION: If you are applying to qualify a business:

    • The company must be registered with the Florida Department of State.
    • You must be an officer of the company to qualify the business.
  • FEE: Pay the required fee as provided in the application. If applying online, you can pay with a credit card or electronic check. If mailing your application, please include a check payable to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Military veterans, their spouses and Florida National Guard members may be eligible for a fee waiver, fee reimbursement, and/or fee discount.
