Veterinarian - Initial License - Graduate Applicants (VM 1)

This application is used by individuals that have graduated from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited school or university with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree, but do not hold a license in another state or have not held a license in another state for at least 3 years. Applicants must have successfully completed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) within the past five years.

Application Requirements:
 
  • SENIORS: if you have not graduated do not use this transaction. Go back and use the link for "Senior Applicants".
  • EDUCATION: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited school or submit the Education Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) or Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) certificate if you attended a foreign school of veterinary medicine. Submit official school transcripts showing proof of graduation and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree conferred by an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited school. Do not submit copies of transcripts.

  • EXAMINATION: Passage of the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) administered by the International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA) and the Florida laws and rules exam. If your NAVLE scores were not reported to Florida, request North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) scores be transferred from the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).
  • FEE: Pay the required fee as provided in the application. If applying online, you can pay with a credit card or electronic check. If mailing your application, please include a check payable to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Military veterans, their spouses and Florida National Guard members may be eligible for a fee waiver, fee reimbursement, and/or fee discount.
