Landscape Architect - Endorsement (LA 3)

This application is used by individuals that are licensed in another state, meet the educational requirements, experience requirements and have passed the Landscape Architectural Registration Examination (LARE) or equivalent. It is also used to apply for the Florida Plants and Materials exam.

Application Requirements:
 
  • OUT-OF-STATE LICENSE: You must hold a valid license to practice landscape architecture by another state or territory of the US, if the criteria for issuance of such license were substantially identical to the licensure criteria which existed in Florida at the time of licensure.

  • EXAMINATION: You must have passed a national, regional, state or territorial licensing examination which is substantially equivalent to the landscape architecture registration exam (LARE) and pass the Florida Plants and Materials (Section F) exam. Review the candidate information booklet for Florida Plants and Materials (Section F). Submit certification of L.A.R.E. exam scores from your base state or CLARB.

  • VERIFICATION OF LICENSURE: A current certification of license history from your state of licensure is required. The history must contain your exam grades, license status and any disciplinary information. Please do not submit a photocopy of your license.

  • BUSINESS INFORMATION: If you are applying to qualify a business:

    • The company must be registered with the Florida Department of State.
    • You must be an officer of the company to qualify the business.
  • TRANSCRIPTS: Submit Official Transcripts, directly from institution or CLARB. If you have been licensed as a Landscape Architect for 10 years or more in another state or territory of the United States transcripts are not required.

  • SIX-YEAR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE OPTION*: Florida law permits individuals who have not completed a professional degree program in landscape architecture from an accredited institution to qualify for licensure if the applicant can demonstrate at least six years of practical experience in landscape architecture.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Verify additional practical experience as indicated in the instructions.
    • Submit two (2) examples of work product as indicated in the instructions.

    *If you have been licensed for 10 years or more in another state verification of practical experience in lieu of an accredited degree is not required.

  • FEE: Pay the required fee as provided in the application. If applying online, you can pay with a credit card or electronic check. If mailing your application, please include a check payable to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Military veterans, their spouses and Florida National Guard members may be eligible for a fee waiver, fee reimbursement, and/or fee discount.
