Certification of Registered Contractor - Grandfathering - Initial Active (ECLB 13)

This application is used to grandfather your registered electrical, alarm or specialty license to a certified electrical, alarm or specialty license.

Application Requirements:
 
  • EXPERIENCE: You must have held an active Registered Electrical, Alarm or Specialty license with the ECLB for at least five (5) years at the time of application or hold an inactive Registered Electrical, Alarm or Specialty license with the ECLB and held an active Building Code Electrical Inspector or Administrator license for at least five (5) years.
    NOTE: If your license was revoked at any time, suspended within the last five (5) years or has been assessed a fine in excess of $500 within the last five (5) years, you are NOT eligible to apply for certification. Also, the time that a license was on probation shall not count toward the five (5) years of active licensure.
  • EXAMINATION: You must provide proof of having taken and passed a written proctored examination that is substantially similar to the Florida certification exam.
  • PERSONAL FINANCIAL/CREDIT: You must provide a personal credit report.
  • BUSINESS FINANCIAL/CREDIT: You must provide a Business Credit Report and Business Financial Statement showing a net worth of at least $10,000.
  • FEE: Pay the required fee as provided in the application. If applying online, you can pay with a credit card or electronic check. If mailing your application, please include a check payable to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
  • APPLICATION: Complete the application by clicking on the "Online Services" link or the "Printable Application" link at the bottom of the page.
    Note: First time DBPR Online Services users will need to create an account and then link their existing license(s). Instructions and additional information can be found by selecting "DBPR Online Services Features and Steps" on the Main Menu. Returning users will need to make sure their license is linked before proceeding.
