Certified Residential Appraiser (FREAB 10)

A Certified Residential Appraiser means a person who is certified by the department as qualified to issue appraisal reports for residential real property of one to four residential units, without regard to transaction value or complexity, or real property as may be authorized by federal regulation.

Application Requirements:
 
  • AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER: You must have a United States Social Security number to apply. You may visit the Social Security Administration website for information on how to obtain one.

  • QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid high school diploma or its equivalent and have a valid Social Security Number.
  • PRE-LICENSING EDUCATION: Must complete 200 classroom hours of approved pre-licensing education, hold an Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university or at least 21 semester credit hours or its equivalent. Please see Administrative Code 61j1-10.003 for complete details.
  • EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have obtained experience when registered under a certified appraiser. That experience must consist of a minimum of 2500 hours, at least 150 reports and be obtained over a 24 month, or more, time period. All experience gained must be USPAP compliant and obtained after January 30, 1989.
  • EXPERIENCE WORK LOG: Separate appraisal logs shall be maintained by both the registered trainee appraiser and the supervisory appraiser. A separate log must be kept for each supervisory appraiser and the supervisor must sign each page of work. Click Here to retrieve the authorized log form.
  • OUT OF STATE APPLICANTS: Applicants with a Certified Residential license current and active in another state may qualify through our mutual recognition. Please visit our mutual recognition requirement page.

  • FEE: The fee is $360.00 which can be paid either by using our Online Services or by personal check.

  • EXAMINATION: Must complete the National Residential Exam and the Florida Supplemental Exam.
