Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
The department cites violations of Florida's sanitation and safety laws,
which are based on the standards of U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Food Code.
High Priority violations are those which could contribute directly to a foodborne
illness or injury and include items such as cooking, reheating, cooling and hand-washing.
Intermediate violations are those which, if not addressed, could lead to risk factors
that contribute to foodborne illness or injury. These violations include personnel training,
documentation or record keeping and labeling. Basic violations are those which are considered
best practices to implement. While most establishments correct all violations in a timely
manner (often during the inspection), the division's procedures are designed to compel
compliance with all violations through follow-up visits, administration action or closure
when necessary.
Basic - Dead flying insects present. Upon inspection, observed approximately eight dead flying insects present in dining area of establishment. Also observed approximately ten dead flying insects present in kitchen and dry storage area of establishment. **Warning**
Basic - Ice buildup in reach-in freezer and/or walk-in freezer. Upon inspection, observed ice buildup in walk in freezer and also ice buildup in both ice cream serving coolers in front of establishment.
Basic - In-use utensil for non-time/temperature control for safety food not stored in a clean, protected location. Upon inspection, observed handle of scoop touching powdered sugar in storage container.
High Priority - Live, small flying insects found. Upon inspection, observed approximately three flying insects present in dining area of establishment. **Warning**
Intermediate - Handwash sink not accessible for employee use at all times. Upon inspection, observed handwashing sink in rear of establishment blocked by a ladder and cases of products.
Intermediate - No paper towels or mechanical hand drying device provided at handwash sink. Upon inspection, observed no paper towels available at handwashing sink behind ice cream coolers.
Intermediate - Proof of required state approved employee training not available for some employees. To order approved program food safety material, call DBPR contracted provider: Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (SafeStaff) 866-372-7233. Upon inspection, observed only one certificate of training for employees. Three employees a working at establishment have no proof of training.
