Certified General Appraiser (FREAB 10)

A Certified General Appraiser means a person who is certified by the department as qualified to issue appraisal reports for any type of real property.

Application Requirements:
 
  • AGE REQUIREMENT:  Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER: You must have a United States Social Security number to apply. You may visit the Social Security Administration website for information on how to obtain one.

  • QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid high school diploma or its equivalent and have a valid Social Security Number.

  • PRE-LICENSING EDUCATION: Must complete 300 classroom hours of approved pre-licensing education, a Bachelors degree, or higher from an accredited college or university. Please see Administrative Code 61J1-10.004 for complete details.

  • EXPERIENCE: Must have obtained experience when registered under a certified appraiser or when certified as a Residential Appraiser.  Experience must be a minimum of 3,000 hours consisting of at least 1,500 hours in non-residential appraisal work. The experience must be documented on a minimum of 23 appraisal reports completed over a period of at least 18 months. All experience gained must be USPAP compliant and obtained after January 30, 1989.

  • EXPERIENCE WORK LOG: Separate appraisal logs shall be maintained by both the registered trainee appraiser and the supervisory appraiser.   • FEE: The fee is $351.00 which can be paid either by using our Online Services or by personal check.

  • EXAM: Complete the National General Exam and the Florida Supplemental Exam.

  • OUT OF STATE APPLICANTS: Applicants with a Certified General license current and active in another state may qualify through our mutual recognition. Please visit our mutual recognition requirement page.

  • BUSINESS NAME: Must register their business name with the department.

  • FINGERPRINT POLICY: NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS SUBMITTING FINGERPRINTS WHERE CRIMINAL RECORD RESULTS WILL BE USED FOR LICENSING PURPOSES
